Despite this irrefutable fact, yet another new bee-killing pesticide - Sulfoxaflor - has just been approved in France. Although there isn't much time left to fight this woefully misguided decision, the French Environment Minister can still stop this attack on the bees if there is concerted global outcry that will get him to stand up against the pesticide industry. If you're fond of eating and would also like to see Planet Earth capable of continuing to support human life, could you sign and share this petition?
That didn't stop the EPA from recklessly greenlighting toxic "neonic" pesticide products without considering the harmful — and possible deadly — effects they'd have on endangered species like the rusty patched bumble bee. So, the NRDC is off to court...again, to save endangered pollinators.
In the past 20 years, the rusty patched bumble bee has lost almost 90 percent of its range partly because of the skyrocketing use of neonics. yet instead of doing everything in its power to tackle this crisis, the EPA continues to allow neonic-containing pesticide products to enter the market.
In fact, the EPA has approved hundreds of neonic products that will harm endangered species like the rusty patched bumble bee, the Karner blue butterfly, the Hine's emerald dragonfly, the black-capped vireo—a clear violation of the Endangered Species Act.
In other words, endangered bees, butterflies, and birds across the USA are being harmed — and even killed — by neonic pesticides that the EPA allowed on the market unlawfully.
Enough is enough. We cannot let the EPA get away with this.
Help ensure we have the resources to defend our environment and protect endangered pollinators and other species — in and out of court. If you can, please make a special contribution to NRDC today.
Right now, the NRDC is fighting the Trump administration in court on many fronts: to stop the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline ... to defend Arctic and Atlantic coastlines from drilling .... to protect communities from toxic chemicals. The list goes on and on...
The NRDC is prepared to fight Trump's backwards administration in court for as long as it takes to defend the USA's most vulnerable species, bedrock environmental laws, health, wild places, and communities. But to do that, strong support from is need. If at all possible, please help the NRDC to fight back at this critical time.
